McKinney

It is our last of 8 nights at Holly and Stan's house in McKinney with my parents. It's been a fun week and to wrap it up, I feel like spreading some of my thoughts out in word form. So, here they are:

- Laying 1100 square feet of bamboo floor is a lot of work. I did about .005% of the work and it was exhausing. Steve and Stan did a great job. Holly and Stan's house is starting to look beauitful.

- Getting 4 kids to sit still for pictures with their grandparents is pretty much my least favorite thing to do. I'm so glad my parents are putting the kids to bed tonight, because after 30 minutes of picture taking, my putting them to bed would have been fun for no one.

- Ikea is about 15 minutes away and I've been 3 times. It's a good thing my husband has me on a budget or we'd have no money left. I love that place.

- Steve and I went to a movie last night, and it was the opening day of the latest Harry Potter movie. There were a lot of people standing in line for a long time. It made me think of movies that I've stood in line for. I've stood in line for two movies in my life. One was the last Matrix movie and the other was the last Lord of the Rings movie. I was not a huge "fan" of either of these trilogies. I enjoyed them, but was not the kind of fan that was counting down to the opening. I stood in line for one reason and one reason alone: I like watching people. People that stand in line for hours for a movie are some of the most entertaining people in the world. My favorites are the ones who dress as characters. Or bring props. Or quote things. It tickles me. It made me wish I could spend more time with the HP line-standers. Have you ever stood in line for a movie? Which ones?

- My parents are AWESOME grandparents. They put the kids to bed most nights this week. I haven't given a single bath - and my kids are clean. I've changed very few diapers. They took them to a movie, they bought them lots of clothes for the fall. They played and sang and read and tickled and laughed and prayed and loved all week long. It was so fun to watch.

- I got on FB for about 2 minutes tonight and apprently it rained in Abilene today - about 57 of my friends said so.

- I'm scared to step on the scales when I get home. My waistline is telling me that the nonstop food my mom, sister and I have been cooking this week has caught up to me.

- I love being with my family but it never feel just right without everyone here - we missed Cara and Kyle a lot this week.

- Holly is a great hostess and we love staying here, but I will be very glad to be off of our slowly leaking air mattress and out of a shared room with my kids and into my bed tomorrow night.

It was one of our greatest vacations. Grandchildren, adult children, and stresses of our life back home in Florida seemed a million miles away. Grandchildren seem to have this magic like quality of placing everything into perspective. Thank you for being awesome parents Lee. I love watching you and Steve as a couple, as individuals, but most of all as parents. Love you so much. Even though it was sad to leave you all there is no place like home, my bed, my dogs, and my giant coffee mug... ah!
